Yesterday I got to do a virtual walkthrough of the kitchen I’ve been designing for my client with @vhi_northampton. It was a really fun way to make sure the layout was exactly like we all planned. Also a really easy way to accidentally walk into a wall 😂

Adding lighting in projects can be cost prohibitive. Thankfully we have battery operated bulbs now! It’s a perfect solution for sconces and other lights that might not get used frequently.

The key to IKEA hacks are adding decorative details. For these builtins, I ordered a custom sized cushion and added gallery rails (I couldn’t find any I liked for a reasonable price so I ended up using stair runner rods!)

Big changes in the works for my office! I was drowning in samples and paperwork and needed more storage. Custom builtins weren’t in my budget for this project, so I’m going for an IKEA hack! Here’s the cabinets in place, but I’ve got a lot planned for them before the project is finished (moulding, shelf rails, bench cushion, new hardware, probably paint…). It’s not often I get to do big projects like this in my own home so I’ve been really excited about it!

The kitchen is the main hub in our house, but there was no good place to post schedules, menus, and other things we refer to daily. That meant I rather had to put it on the calendar in the office (which meant I would forget it was there) or I had to leave a pile of clutter on the counter. I also missed the nostalgia of a fridge covered with art and photos and memories. I wasn’t comfortable with using adhesive of any sort on the fridge for fear of damage. And then suddenly the idea of suction cups popped into my head! I had to find some with a flat portion so they would glue on nicely, but that was easy to do. I’ll probably paint the white board frame black to match the cork board later. But for now I’m excited to have a place to stick things to the fridge finally!!!
